For the first time, the sustainability part of the Report was prepared in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). BASF commissions 54-megawatt water electrolyzer
Germany’s largest proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer has gone into operation in March 2025 at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site. Designed to produce zero-carbon hydrogen, the electrolyzer has a connected load of 54 megawatts and the capacity to supply the main plant with up to one metric ton of this substantial chemical feedstock every hour.

Cultivation program for sustainable castor beans increases yields
Pragati, the world’s first sustainable castor bean program, completed eight years of operation in the 2023/2024 season. More than 8,000 farmers are now certified under the program, and individual farmer yields have increased significantly.

Higher recycling rates to strengthen circular economy
BASF has teamed up with Endress+Hauser and TechnoCompound as well as the Universities of Bayreuth and Jena to study how the mechanical recycling of plastics can be improved.

BASF launches xarvio® FIELD MANAGER For Fruits & Veggies
BASF Digital Farming GmbH announces its global expansion into horticulture. The new offering will initially support the cultivation of wine and table grapes from late 2025, targeting the markets of France, Italy, Spain, and Türkiye. From 2026 onwards, it will expand to include crops like tomatoes and potatoes.
