The environmentally sound treatment of industrial water as well as the problem-free operation of seawater desalination plants are central topics when it comes to water treatment. In this context, the prevention of mineral and algae build-up is particularly significant.
In the thermal process of seawater desalination, the dissolved salts precipitate in the form of carbonate and hydroxite and are deposited in the installation. This leads to higher energy consumption as well as malfunctions.
Together with its customers, BASF develops innovative polymers that prevent such deposits and foaming, even at high temperatures. As a result, the maintenance intervals become less frequent, the service life of the installation is extended and the capacity rises.
