Jürgen Hambrecht, born 1946 in Germany, is married and has four children. He obtained his doctorate in chemistry in 1975 from the University of Tübingen, Germany. Hambrecht is Chairman of BASF - The Chemical Company, and has served the company for more than 30 years in various responsibilities around the world. He is also a member of the supervisory boards of Daimler AG and Lufthansa AG, as well as Vice President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and Chairman of the Asia Pacific Committee of German Business (APA).
