CO2 reduction in Brazilian homes

03/08

Photo: participants in action
BASF Brazil has initiated a pilot project focusing on the reduction of private CO2 emissions. The project aims to raise awareness for the environmentally friendly use of raw materials in the home and to foster resource sparing practices.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the regional competence centre for eco-efficiency "Espaço ECO", founded by BASF. Altogether 1500 employees are involved who are not only extensively trained in environmental issues but are also coached to act as multipliers passing on their knowledge to other employees.

Initial practical experience for the multipliers consists in constructing a CO2 neutral house. The target for the first year of this long-term project is the education and training of the multipliers, while the savings will be assessed later on.
