Unusual birthday present for the city of São Paulo |
09/04 |

BASF Coatings has given the city of São Paulo an unusual present to mark its 450th birthday. Instead of typical anniversary gifts, the company presented the largest city in Latin America with 15,000 liters of its Suvinil® brand architectural paint.
Since then, nearly 1,000 young artists have given their city a new look, opening up new opportunities for graffiti art in Brazil and making São Paulo more appealing. The artists have applied a lot of talent and paint to 51 walls and fences in the heart of the city, and some of them have even exhibited their works in the local district city halls. The Brazilian initiative Projeto Aprendiz coordinated the project called São Paulo Capital Graffiti.
In addition to the São Paulo Capital Graffiti initiative, BASF Coatings is supporting Brazil’s economic powerhouse with a project titled Suvinil Color: Architecture and Memory. The goal of this project is to restore some of the city’s historic monuments and thus help preserve the city’s history. Currently, the historical center of São Paulo, the Pátio do Colegio, the chapel of the hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia and the Colégio Mackenzie are receiving fresh coats of paint.
