Issue Management for Sustainability
We want to identify and evaluate important sustainability issues at an early stage. The goal is to develop strategies enabling the company to meet these new challenges. In 2007 BASF analyzed and evaluated sustainability issues together with the British consultancy SustainAbility Ltd and illustrated them in a Materiality Matrix. The developed Matrix considers the degree of societal interest and also the potential impact for BASF. Detailed research on each stakeholder priorities provided the foundation for the overall ‘societal interest’ rating in the assessment.
