Goals - Social responsibility

We want to continuously improve our performance in the field of social responsibility. Therefore we have set ourself concrete goals.

Social Performance Assessment

We want to ensure that internationally recognized labor and social standards are transparent and reviewable at all our sites worldwide.

An annual survey of international labor and social standards and an employee hotline that will allow all employees to contact a hotline anonymously if they have questions on compliance with these standards have been established.

Form the best team in industry

Our goal for 2006 was to establish a global employee survey for the BASF Group. Until 2009 we want to synchronize the contents and timing of regional employee surveys and we also want to determine a KPI index for “best team” for the BASF Group.

Up to the end of the year all employee surveys contained 12 questions on the key aspects of our strategic guideline “Form the best team in industry.”

Personnel systems and remuneration

We have set ourselves the goal to introduce a mandatory system for assessing functions for the BASF Group.
We want to evaluate functions, e.g., in North and South America and at the Ludwigshafen site.
Up to the end of 2006 a mandatory assessment system has been established in Asia Pacific, North and South America and at almost all European sites.

Senior executives

Since 2003 we have set ourselves the goal of increasing the proportion of non-germans and women among our senior executives. The proportion of women in top management positions rose to 5.6 percent in 2006, while the proportion of non-german senior executives remained at 30 percent. We remain committed to increasing the proportion of women and non-German employees.

Leadership Feedback

We want to establish a mandatory leadership feedback for senior executives worldwide. Until 2008 80% of senior executives should have taken part in the standardized leadership feedback process.
Up to the end of 2007 47.8% of the senior executives have already taken part in the feedback process.
