"Sustainable Biofuels - How to Certify Them?",
econsense-workshop with BASF and VW 2007

Photo: Mr. Gerhardt standing at the lectern
The target of the workshop was to promote exchange concerning sustainability of biofuels and to initiate a dialogue between business, politics, science and social stakeholders.

The participants in the discussion agreed that a certification system of biofuels can contribute to the targets of sustainable development. One of the important certification criteria is the CO2-efficiency of biofuels. Jointly widening the knowledge base and formulating adequate general conditions were considered the main tasks at this point to ensure a sustainable conception of the use of biofuels.
