BASF has launched a new service package for product and industrial designers. "PlasticsPlus™ design" is the exclusive new service package for plastics from the PlasticsPlus range. The core of the service is the "designfabrik™" or Design Factory.
The Design Factory is part of the new service package "PlasticsPlus design" from BASF's Styrenics range for product and industrial designers. In the former plastics color laboratory, now transformed into a Design Factory, industrial designers can obtain advice about the design and coloring of their plastic products. BASF specialists use PlasticsPlus design to help designers find the right color and advise them on the selection of the optimal production process, on the design that is appropriate for plastics, and on the pre-selection of a suitable material. Approximately 20,000 samples in various colors are available in a color library.
A color competence center is also integrated into the Design Factory. Whether corrugated, glossy or matt, colors look different depending on the surface. BASF's experts can produce up to 50 different surface textures. With 20,000 samples and 50 different surfaces, designers can choose from one million color impressions. Experts can then create samples for customers in the desired color in the Design Factory. The well-known German pen manufacturer Lamy is one of BASF’s customers who have already taken advantage of the services the design factory provides.
