Kurt Bock was born in Rahden, Germany, in 1958. From 1977 to 1982, he studied business administration at the universities of Münster and Cologne as well as at Pennsylvania State University. After three years in research, he received his doctorate in economics from the University of Bonn.

Currently
As the Chief Financial Officer of BASF SE, Dr. Bock is responsible for Finance, Information Services, Corporate Controlling and Corporate Audit. Since 2007 he also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BASF Corporation and has responsibility for the North American Regional Division and the Catalysts Operating Division.
