Further dividend increase to € 3.90

A dividend of € 3.90 per share ofr 2007 is 30 % higher than in the previous year and corresponds to an attractive dividend yield of 4.6 % based on the closing share price on March 31, 2008. We aim to increase our dividend each year, or at least maintain it at the previous year's level.

Two-for-one stock split

On April 24, 2008 the Annual Meeting has agreed to conduct a two-for-one stock split. Thereby we can make BASF shares available to an even broader spectrum of investors. Following a re-division of the share capital, shareholders would receive one additional share for each BASF share held without additional payment. Shares held in form of American Depositary Receipts in the United States would also be adjusted accordingly.

Dividend

Dividends are generally remitted within the first two business days after the Annual Meeting. All shareholders possessing BASF certificates on the day of the Annual Meeting are entitled to receive payment of the dividend.
